Pistol Caliber Carbines

IMI UZI     HK MP5SD6 .22 Cal     Beretta CX4 Storm

Though many military and police forces have switched to 5.56 x 45mm carbines based upon M-16/AR-15 or HK33/93 designs, pistol caliber carbines are still in use.  The two most prolific designs are the UZI and HK MP-5 offered to military and police forces in 9mm.  These two designs have been used by almost every non-former Soviet block country in the world.  These guns are very popular with civilian gun enthusiasts and the civilian versions are often offered in an even wider variation of calibers than their military counterparts.  Also, some new designs like the Beretta CX4 Storm have been developed for and offered to the civilian market first.  Finally, as many of the original 9mm versions of these submachines cost $1,000s, .22” caliber versions are being produced for the civilian market and to lower training costs and wear on military versions.
